Mahlon Reyes, a deckhand on the Discovery Channel’s reality show “Deadliest Catch,” tragically passed away due to an accidental drug overdose.
The coroner and sheriff at the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he died of acute cocaine intoxication on July 27.
His passing came just a week after co-star Nick McGlashan was found dead at the age of 33.
McGlashan paid respects to Mahlon on Twitter, posting a photo of Reyes on deck with the heartfelt message.
His message was, “This place misses you. RIP Mahlon.” Friends and family also paid tribute to Mahlon, remembering him as a beloved crew member of the popular reality show.
He was only 38 years old and is survived by his wife and four children.
His wife, Heather Sullivan, shared that they are recalling fond memories of Mahlon to make this impossible situation bearable.
She described him as her rock, and their family has been surrounded by an amazing group of friends and family who remember his positive attitude and smile.
At the time of his passing, Reyes’ wife mentioned that he had died in his hometown of Whitefish, Montana, a day after suffering a heart attack.
Despite initially surviving the heart attack, he never regained consciousness and was taken off life support the following day.
Remarkably, Reyes had no known pre-existing health conditions. His ashes were later spread in the Bering Sea by some of his fellow Deadliest Catch costars.
